Surf Sports - An Introduction

Sunday, 24 July 2011 20:26
Surf Sports competition is an exciting part of being involved in any surf club, and one aspect that attracts and keeps many members involved in surf lifesaving. Not only is it adrenaline pumping fun, surf sports aims to prepare lifesavers for their role in saving lives, enhancing fitness and skills relevant to saving lives.
As a general rule, any member that wishes to participate in competition - especially at an Interclub level - must have gained, and remain proficient in their Bronze Medallion award (see Annual Proficiency Test).
A description of the many competitive disciplines is provided on this website - see Competitive Sections. For a complete understanding of the rules and regulations of most events, refer to the SLSA Surf Sports Manual. The printed version is available to view or purchase through the Club Office (not very expensive to buy). You can also download the latest edition of the manual by visiting SLSA’s website.
